Positano Dining Guide: 14 of the Best Restaurants for Scenic Views, Local Wine, Fresh Seafood, and More
Positano was one of, if not my favorite town that I saw on the Amalfi Coast. I loved being able to see the water and coastline from pretty much anywhere, since the whole town is on a hill. If you’re looking for recommendations on where to eat in Positano, here are 14 great restaurants to try on your next trip to the Amalfi Coast.
These restaurants are at varying price points and to help make your decision of where to eat even easier, I’ve included whether it's the best choice for wine bars, scenic views, a romantic setting, a group, etc.
Cheers to all of the pizza and limoncello your heart desires.

Good For: unique menu choices, seafood, extensive wine list
What to Order: grilled octopus, homemade gnocchi, and dessert!
The Vibe: romantic, modern, elegant
A slight walk from the center of town, but the food (and drinks) were worth it. This place has a very romantic vibe especially on the outdoor terrace - there’s jasmine climbing up the white walls. Try the grilled octopus and the homemade gnocchi. Their desserts were also to die for.
Chez Black
Good For: groups, families, special occasions
What to Order: pasta with zucchini, pizza (they’re known for making heart-shaped pizza!)
The Vibe: classic, beachfront dining
An established restaurant in Positano, since 1949. Chez Black is definitely a hot spot as it is right on the main beach in town so reserve a table ahead of time. A lot of people say this place is over hyped and too touristy, but we had a wonderful time and were treated very well by the staff.
La Sponda
Good For: views, special occasions, contemporary Italian cuisine
What to Order: beef and truffle pasta; The chef’s menu is constantly changing but everything is fantastic
The Vibe: romantic, luxurious, fine dining
THE place to go to in Positano for atmosphere, food, and drinks. Read more about La Sponda and why I call it the most romantic restaurant in Positano.
Lo Guarracino
Good For: waterfront views, a moderately priced meal
What to Order: spaghetti with clams, their house wine
The Vibe: relaxed, romantic
You won’t stumble upon this one in town. It’s tucked away overlooking a quiet beach, and every table has a waterfront view.
La Brasserie del Covo
Good For: people watching, beachfront views
What to Order: appetizers and fresh lemon sorbet
The Vibe: casual, alfresco dining
This is the bar at hotel Covo del Saraceni. They have indoor and outdoor seating at the bar, and an upstairs terrace restaurant, all of which are lovely. We chose to sit outside for late afternoon drinks and enjoy the view.
Da Gabrisa
Good For: wine bar, scenic views
What to Order: beef carpaccio, local wine
The Vibe: romantic, welcoming
This restaurant is located in the upper part of Positano, giving you stunning views of the town and coastline below. Aside from being a restaurant and wine bar, they also offer cooking classes like “Italian Food 101” and “A Taste of the Amalfi Coast”.
Ristorante Max
Good For: the largest wine selection, art lovers
The Vibe: romantic, cozy
I’ll admit, this is one I haven’t been to (which is why I didn’t include a recommendation on what to order), but Ristorante Max was on my list of places to try! It looks so unique, and I’ll definitely be making it a stop next time I’m there. The restaurant is also an art gallery and is filled with antique pieces. If you like Italian wine, they have over 600 labels in their wine cellar.
L’Incanto
Good For: beachfront views, lunch
What to Order: grilled octopus appetizer, wood-fired pizza
The Vibe: upscale beachy
A bar and restaurant with beach front dining at the far end of the beach. Perfect for afternoon drinks and a light bite. Share a salad, pizza, and a glass of wine on the water.
Le Tre Sorelle
Good For: large groups, families
What to Order: 3-mozzarella salad, the local fish
The Vibe: beachy, casual
A friendly welcoming vibe next to Chez Black and right on the beach. This restaurant has been in Positano since the 1950’s. We ordered their delicious wood-fired pizza and an aperol spritz.
Il Fornillo
Good For: vegetarian dishes, a less expensive dinner option
What to Order: ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, homemade lemoncello
The Vibe: cozy, casual
A small family-owned restaurant with food and a friendly waitstaff that made us eat dinner here twice!
Other restaurant recommendations include:
Da Vincenzo Positano
Ristorante Terrazza Celè
Rada
Franco’s Bar (technically a bar, not a restaurant but still a must visit, for drinks and the view)
